About the position

The Medical Assistant (MA) at Starling Physicians plays a crucial role in supporting physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners by managing clerical duties, patient flow, and assisting with patient care and procedures. This position is integral to ensuring a smooth and efficient operation within the healthcare setting, contributing to high-quality patient care and a positive experience for patients.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the examination room and ensures proper preparation for patient visits.
• Escorts patients into the examination room and cleans the room after exams.
• Maintains efficient patient flow and stocks examination rooms with necessary supplies.
• Communicates and provides care consistent with the age, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of the patient.
• Answers the telephone appropriately, directs calls, and takes accurate messages.
• Schedules appointments accurately according to departmental guidelines.
• Obtains vital signs and documents them appropriately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Reviews and updates medication lists and documents allergies in the EHR.
• Enters orders and schedules appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.
• Adheres to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposing of medical waste.

Requirements

• High School Graduate/GED required; Associate Degree preferred.
• 0-1 year related work experience required; 2-4 years preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtained within 30 days of hire required.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing required.
• Basic proficiency in computer use required.

• Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
