About the position

The Medical Assistant/Office Coordinator position at Family Medical Group is a full-time role focused on providing clinical and administrative support in a primary care clinic. The role involves taking medical histories, assisting physicians during examinations, and managing patient interactions, while also handling various administrative tasks such as scheduling and insurance verification.

Responsibilities

  • Taking medical histories (Medical, Social, Family and Surgical History)
  • Taking vitals (Blood Pressure, Oxygen Levels, Temperature)
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Preparing patients for examination
  • Maintaining a weekly checklist of medical supplies and medication restock
  • Preparing all exam rooms with necessary supplies
  • Assisting the physician during exams
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Performing basic laboratory tests
  • Instructing patients about medication and special diets
  • Preparing and administering medications
  • Transmitting prescription refills as directed
  • Drawing blood and scheduling lab pickups
  • Reviewing lab results
  • Taking electrocardiograms
  • Removing sutures and changing dressings
  • Performing any other tasks assigned by the Physician and Manager

Requirements

  • Must have more than 1 year of experience
  • Certified Medical Assistant - Preferred
  • Phlebotomy Certified - Mandatory
  • Customer Service Skills - Greet Patients
  • Fluency in English and Spanish - Mandatory
  • Must be able to understand medical terminology

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - Preferred
