The Medical Assistant will perform both administrative and technical supportive services, ensuring a smooth workflow in the clinic.
Responsibilities
- Assist in patient care under the supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner.
- Recognize normal and abnormal signs and symptoms in patients.
- Provide support during life-threatening emergencies.
- Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks as needed.
- Administer CPR and medications as required.
- Perform venipuncture and skin punctures for blood withdrawal.
- Obtain accurate vital signs and manage drug refills.
- Assist in medical emergencies and office procedures.
- Use computerized patient care systems effectively.
- Schedule patients for referrals to specialists.
- Maintain inventory of medical and clinical supplies.
Requirements
- Medical assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited program.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomology and life-threatening medical problems.
- Ability to administer CPR and medications (oral, IM, subcutaneous).
- Skill in performing venipuncture and obtaining vital signs.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and safety requirements for handling biohazardous specimens.
- Interpersonal and verbal skills for effective communication with patients and staff.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a clinical setting as a medical assistant.
- Familiarity with computerized patient care systems.
- Ability to assist in the orientation of new staff.
