About the position

The Medical Assistant (Outpatient) position at Adventist Health Bakersfield involves providing essential technical support services under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth patient flow and maintaining high-quality care in a busy outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up exam rooms and checks in patients.
  • Maintains a patient recall system, including continuity of care log for lab tests, referrals, and transfers.
  • Obtains vital signs and reports significant findings to the clinic physician.
  • Performs venipunctures as ordered and conducts audiometry and vision testing.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent (Preferred).
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or equivalent combination of licensure and experience (Preferred).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) Health Care Provider certification (Required).
  • Successful completion of audiometry and vision training or a certificate from CHDP within six months of hire (Preferred).
  • Phlebotomy certificate (Preferred).
