About the position
The Medical Assistant (MA) at Mercy Orthopedic Hospital in Ozark, MO, is responsible for assisting the physician and office staff with various duties, including clerical processing, patient preparation, scheduling, lab work, x-ray, and managing medical records. The MA will perform patient care activities in accordance with established nursing practice standards. A friendly, personal, and professional approach is expected when communicating with patients, families, visitors, and employees. Additional related duties may be assigned as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist the physician and office staff with clerical processing and patient preparation.
- Schedule appointments and manage medical records.
- Perform lab and x-ray duties as required.
- Carry out patient care activities consistent with nursing practice standards.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and staff.
- Integrate the Mercy Philosophy into daily responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must obtain BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
- Active Medical Assistant Certification/registrations (RMA, CCMA, CMA) required for certified positions.
- Preferred: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience.
