About the position
The Medical Assistant position at Bronson Primary Care Partners is a part-time role requiring 24 hours of work per week. The role involves providing general nursing functions under the direction of a healthcare provider, including recording vital signs, conducting initial patient assessments, and managing patient documentation. The Medical Assistant will also educate patients and families about medications and treatments, ensuring a high level of patient care and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Record vital signs and immunizations.
- Provide initial patient assessment and obtain concise patient history.
- Process and post information to patient's chart.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, and care.
- Administer treatments as requested by the physician.
- Obtain specimens for urine testing and perform phlebotomy as needed.
- Document pertinent information in patient charts accurately.
- Prepare patients for examinations and coordinate admissions and referrals.
- Assist in scheduling appointments and managing inventory of supplies.
- Attend staff and educational meetings as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program or CMA/CCMA/RMA certification.
- Eligibility to take CMA/RMA certification within 6 months of hire.
- BLS certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
- Knowledge of clinical skills as required with Medical Assistant Certification/Registration.
- Effective problem-solving and prioritization skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with EMR systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and provide excellent customer service.
