About The Position

The Medical Assistant in Pediatrics at Henry Ford Health is responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to ensure quality care for patients. This full-time position involves direct interaction with patients, assisting healthcare providers during examinations, and performing various clinical tasks to enhance patient experience and care delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum) or equivalent experience
  • Current BLS-C certification upon hire or completion by end of orientation
  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred
  • EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to problem-solve
  • Experience in clinical medical assisting
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with clinical experience
  • Military trained medical personnel with clinical experience

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients upon arrival
  • Obtain and record patient medical histories and vital signs
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during exams
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician
  • Perform basic lab tests and collect/prep lab specimens
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage medical records
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and handle patient correspondence
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and exam rooms
  • Provide patient education and instructions on medical procedures or care
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures and wound care
  • Manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
