Lone Star Circle of Care is a non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to providing high-quality health care to patients in Central Texas. Our Medical Assistants play a crucial role in this mission by participating as part of the integrated health care delivery team under the direction of licensed medical and/or licensed nursing personnel. This position involves a variety of responsibilities that are essential to the smooth operation of our clinics and the care of our patients. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for obtaining, evaluating, and recording patient history in medical files, as well as measuring and recording vital signs. You will prepare and maintain examination and treatment rooms, ensuring that they are clean and that instruments are sterilized. Additionally, you will assist in the examination of patients and may be required to draw and collect blood samples for laboratory analysis. Your role will also include preparing and administering medications as ordered by licensed medical and/or nursing staff, performing routine diagnostic and laboratory tests, and explaining treatment procedures to patients. Compliance with quality metrics defined by the Quality Council is a key aspect of this role. You will need to follow standing orders and provide treatments according to established protocols, achieving and maintaining clinical competencies as defined by the Quality Council.
