About the position

The Medical Assistant position in Pediatrics at Core Physicians LLC is a full-time role focused on providing comprehensive support in a fast-paced pediatric office. The role encompasses clerical, clinical, and business functions under the supervision of healthcare professionals. The position requires a commitment to varied shifts, including weekends, and emphasizes teamwork and communication within a fun work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical duties such as pre-visit work, obtaining vital signs, providing medication reconciliation, and assisting providers with examinations and/or procedures.
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization as required and ensure exam rooms are cleaned and stocked.
• Respond to patient phone portal messages on the same day, following standard work procedures and messaging policy.
• Complete pre-visit work, close gaps in care, administer vaccines, and complete prescription refills using standing protocols.
• Schedule pre-admission and diagnostic testing and place follow-up calls to patients after surgery as needed.
• Perform daily administrative duties including greeting/check in/check out, scheduling patients, answering telephones, taking messages, organizing patient charts, and filing.
• Collect co-pays and patient balances, post-payment and adjustment transactions, and balance daily journal.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality and infection control standards, and participate in daily huddles.
• In some practices, perform scribing duties by documenting patient encounters accurately and efficiently, ordering labs, making referrals, and ordering prescriptions as recommended by the provider.
• Monitor care team metrics to evaluate improvement metrics and outcomes.

Requirements

• CMA/RMA/CCMA certification/registration required or within 6 months of hire, or credentialed through a formal training program that includes testing of knowledge.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
