About the position

The PRN Medical Assistant at Mercy Pediatrics Clinic is responsible for preparing patients for their visits, assisting with in-office testing, administering vaccines, and collaborating with the clinical care team to ensure effective delivery of care. This entry-level position offers opportunities for professional growth and development within a supportive healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for visits by completing the Advanced Standard room process, including entering chief complaints and taking vital signs.
• Review patient history and allergies, and complete thorough medication reconciliation.
• Work with the Encounter Guide to address open care gaps such as fall risk and cancer screenings.
• Recheck elevated blood pressures and complete necessary documentation in Epic for preventative visits.
• Assist with in-office testing, including drawing blood, mental status exams, EKGs, and point of care testing.
• Administer vaccines and other injections within the scope of practice.
• Schedule follow-up appointments as needed per office policy.
• Collaborate with providers and the clinical care team to monitor and coordinate the delivery of care plans.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA) preferred.
• 6 months of clinical healthcare experience preferred.
