About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Kaiser Permanente involves providing essential support to medical providers in a primary care setting. The role focuses on patient care and clerical duties, ensuring a high level of service and safety for patients. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for rooming patients, assisting with examinations, and maintaining effective communication with patients and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and facilitate provider schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures.
  • Perform basic medical functions such as vision screening, ear irrigations, and EKG tests.
  • Support physicians during routine examination and treatment procedures.
  • Perform clerical duties including completing patient visit records and scheduling appointments.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms for use by medical providers.
  • Administer specific medications as determined by the regional Nursing Service department.
  • Interview patients to determine the reason for their visit and record vital signs.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with a minimum of 120 hours of clinical experience.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and customer focus abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual skills are preferred.
