About the position

The Medical Assistant in Primary Care is responsible for providing clinical support to healthcare providers in a fast-paced environment. This role involves direct patient care, including collecting vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with examinations. The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining patient records and ensuring compliance with health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Collect and accurately record patient's vital signs, chief complaint, symptoms, history, allergies, and immunizations.
• Collect specimens and administer oral medication and immunizations as instructed by the doctor.
• Obtain, prepare, and set up supplies and instruments for patient care and treatment.
• Prepare patients for examination and assist doctors as needed during examinations.
• Track and route test results to doctors for review and report abnormal values promptly.
• Enter all required patient information and clinical data in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Assess each patient's age-specific needs and provide appropriate treatment and care.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA/OSHA standards.
• Answer phones, take messages, and assist doctors or other staff as needed.
• Participate in departmental and organizational quality management activities.

Requirements

• Experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of HEDIS is a plus.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
