About the position

The Medical Assistant position at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is a PRN (per diem) role focused on providing support in the delivery of medical care to clinic patients. The role emphasizes high customer service skills and involves various responsibilities including patient documentation, immunizations, and communication with patients. The Medical Assistant will work under the direction of the clinic physician and Manager, ensuring adherence to clinic policies and procedures while maintaining a supportive and restorative care environment.

Responsibilities

• Timely, accurate, and thorough completion of medical documentation upon patient intake.
• Ability to give immunizations.
• Utilize computer software for pertinent patient documentation and provide documentation to patients as needed.
• Adhere to policies/procedures for patient medications and testing, including refilling medications according to protocols.
• Engage in electronic communications with patients as per established policy standards.
• Participate in group huddles to assure continuity of care.
• Manage patient needs and requests in accordance with policy and established standards.
• Maintain logs of work performed as detailed by the Clinic Manager/Director.
• Adhere to clinic specific competencies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent upon hire.
• Medical Assistant Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Customer Service / Patient Focus experience.
• BLS obtained through the American Heart Association.
