About the position

As a Float Medical Assistant PRN at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients across various practices located in Johnson, Miami, and Douglas Counties. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality healthcare and are committed to the principles of whole-person care. Your responsibilities will include greeting patients, obtaining clinical and demographic information, and assisting healthcare providers during examinations and treatments. You will also perform essential office duties such as verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and scheduling appointments, all while adhering to AdventHealth's service standards. In this role, you will be expected to assist with screenings as per physician orders, ensuring that all information is accurately entered at the time of service. You may also assist with minor procedures associated with specialty care and will be required to travel to satellite offices as needed. The position demands the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment, applying stress management techniques when necessary. You will utilize various medical equipment, including EKG machines, pulse oximeters, and glucose monitors, to provide the best care possible to our patients. Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate care to patients under close supervision.
  • Greet patients and obtain clinical, financial, and demographic information.
  • Assist providers during treatment and examination.
  • Help with procedures and medication administration as ordered by the provider.
  • Perform office duties including verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and scheduling appointments.
  • Assist with screenings per physician orders and enter all information accurately.
  • May assist with minor procedures associated with specialty care.
  • Travel to satellite offices as required.
  • Function effectively in stressful, fast-paced environments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification is required.
  • BLS obtained through the American Heart Association.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with patient care equipment such as stethoscopes, EKG machines, and glucose monitors.
