About the position

The Medical Assistant position at the Psychiatric Services Clinic involves supporting the medication clinic's operations under the supervision of administration. The role focuses on clinical record keeping, information gathering, and assisting nursing staff with non-specialized tasks. Responsibilities

• Support the smooth functioning of the medication clinic under supervision.
• Perform clinical record keeping and information gathering activities.
• Assist nursing staff with duties that do not require specialized education and licensure of a Registered Nurse.
• Obtain information from outside sources regarding consumers.
• May obtain vital signs on consumers and enter this information into the electronic medical record.
• Complete requests for prior authorizations for medications from insurers.
• Carry out all activities in accordance with CMHA-CEI's mission, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• Possession of a certificate from an accredited education program is required.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience with individuals with mental health disorders, developmental disabilities, or severe emotional disturbance is required.
• Possession of First Aid and CPR Certification or willingness to obtain this at employer's expense within 90 days of hire required.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation for job-related use required.
