About the position

The Medical Assistant/Medical Receptionist (MA/MR) plays a crucial role in the delivery of primary health and patient care management under general supervision. This position is guided by well-defined policies and procedures, ensuring that patient care is delivered efficiently and effectively. The MA/MR is responsible for interviewing patients and/or their representatives to gather essential personal, demographic, and financial information, which is vital for patient registration and care management. This role involves performing routine clerical, secretarial, and administrative tasks, including answering telephones, receiving the public, and providing customer assistance. Data processing and computer data entry are also key components of this position, as accurate record-keeping is essential for patient registration and overall healthcare operations. In addition to administrative duties, the MA/MR assists in the flow of patients from the waiting area to examination rooms, ensuring that the physician's time is utilized efficiently. This includes performing preparatory work on patients, which may involve taking vital signs and maintaining medical records. The MA/MR must possess a solid understanding of medical practice and care, as well as knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Familiarity with medical equipment and instruments is necessary to administer patient care effectively. Furthermore, the MA/MR must be aware of safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment for both patients and staff. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with completion of an accredited program for Medical Assistants. Candidates must hold current CPR certification and possess relevant certifications such as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Patient Care Technician (PCT). Certification for injection administration and medication documentation/handling is also required. The MA/MR must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and the public, ensuring a positive experience for all individuals interacting with the healthcare facility.

Responsibilities
