About the position

The Medical Assistant/Receptionist position is a full-time role located at 1569 Smith Township State Rd, Burgettstown, PA 15021. The job encompasses a variety of clerical and clinical duties within a primary care office setting. The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring smooth patient flow and providing essential support to both patients and healthcare providers. This includes checking schedules, organizing patient flow, and accompanying patients to exam or procedure rooms. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will assist patients with mobility, transfers, and dressing, as well as collecting specimens and preparing patients for examinations. Additionally, the role involves performing basic screenings such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure, and assisting physicians and physician assistants with various procedures. Charting patient information and relaying instructions to patients and their families are also key responsibilities. In terms of clerical duties, the Medical Assistant/Receptionist will handle tasks such as sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab and x-ray reports, and completing necessary forms and requisitions. Scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining accurate patient demographics are critical components of this role. The individual will also be responsible for environmental duties, which include setting up instruments and equipment according to departmental protocols, cleaning exam and procedure rooms, and maintaining infection control standards. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will answer phone calls, record messages, and provide pertinent information to patients and staff. They will also collect copays, complete referrals, and ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately. Strong customer service skills are essential, as the individual will greet patients in a polite and helpful manner, providing direction and assistance as needed. Responsibilities

  • Check schedules and organize patient flow.
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms.
  • Assist patients with walking, transfers, and dressing.
  • Collect patient chief complaints and perform screenings (HT, WT, TEMP, BP).
  • Assist physicians and physician assistants with various procedures.
  • Chart patient information and relay instructions to patients/families.
  • Answer calls and provide pertinent information to patients and staff.
  • Send/receive patient medical records and obtain lab/x-ray reports.
  • Complete forms and requisitions as needed.
  • Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  • Set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
  • Clean exam/procedure rooms and maintain infection control standards.
  • Order, sort, and store supplies; restock exam/procedure rooms.
  • Collect copays and provide necessary forms for completion.
  • Enter charges and complete referrals, obtaining precertifications as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Accreditation from a Program or Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a customer service setting.
