About the position

The Medical Assistant Sr Clinic position at the Dermatology Clinic involves providing routine patient care under the supervision of a physician or other medical personnel. The role includes assisting with examinations, performing tests, gathering patient information, and maintaining the smooth operation of the clinic. The position also involves training other Medical Assistants and ensuring patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assists physician or other medical personnel in the examination process as required or necessary.
• Places patients in exam rooms and positions them for appropriate exams or procedures.
• Performs routine tests on patients such as audiograms, vision tests, spirometry, EKG, rapid strep, urinalysis, and urine pregnancy tests.
• Obtains and records vital signs including body temperature, height, weight, and blood pressure.
• Documents patient complaints and histories, including allergies and immunization histories.
• Performs various nursing duties such as suture removal, casting, administration of injections, and venipunctures.
• Chaperones examinations and patients during procedures.
• Responsible for stocking exam rooms, taking inventory, ordering supplies, and sterilizing instruments.
• Makes scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities.
• Assists with training other Medical Assistants.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• 2 or more years of experience in patient care as a Medical Assistant or 2 years performing electronic order entry as a qualified ABR-OE.
• Completion of an associate or bachelor's degree program from a nursing or health care discipline can be used in lieu of the experience requirement.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.

Nice-to-haves

• Medical Assistant certification from AMT, AAMA, or other recognized bodies preferred but not required upon hire.
