About the position

The Medical Assistant Sr Clinic position at OU Health involves providing essential support in the Heart, Lung, and Vascular Clinic under the supervision of medical personnel. The role encompasses a variety of patient care functions, including assisting physicians, performing routine tests, gathering patient information, and maintaining the smooth operation of the clinic. The position requires a blend of clinical skills and administrative duties to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient clinic operations.

Responsibilities

• Assists physician or other medical personnel in the examination process as required or necessary.
• Places patients in exam rooms and positions them for appropriate exams or procedures.
• Performs routine tests on patients such as audiograms, vision tests, spirometry, EKGs, and urinalysis.
• Obtains and records vital signs and patient histories, maintaining confidentiality.
• Performs various nursing duties including suture removal, casting, and administration of injections.
• Chaperones examinations and assists with both surgical and non-surgical procedures.
• Responsible for stocking exam rooms, taking inventory, and ordering supplies.
• Makes scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities.
• Assists with training other Medical Assistants.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• 2 or more years of experience in patient care as a Medical Assistant or 2 years performing electronic order entry required.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.

Nice-to-haves

• Medical Assistant certification from AMT, AAMA, or other recognized bodies preferred but not required upon hire.
