About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Evernorth Care Group involves providing essential support in a fast-paced outpatient healthcare environment. The role focuses on ensuring smooth clinic operations, delivering excellent customer service, and assisting with patient care tasks, all while working collaboratively with clinicians and peers to meet the healthcare needs of diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly in the clinic.
  • Room patients and complete vital signs, enter data in patient charts, assist with in-office procedures, review medications, and outreach to patients and providers for the purpose of continuing care.
  • Accurately follow all policies and procedures, practicing in alignment with the scope of certification or licensure.
  • Provide excellent and friendly customer service through all avenues of communication.
  • Document efforts of all care and information provided to patients.
  • Return patient calls, complete referrals, chart prep, and forms management.
  • Help answer questions, concerns, and requests, either in person, through the electronic health record system EPIC, or by phone.
  • Partner with clinicians, peers, and patients to meet the needs of the practice.
  • Manage ambiguity and recognize appropriate ways to deal with conflict management.
  • Cross train in the Front Office as well as the Laboratory (Phlebotomy).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved MA program or graduate of an unapproved program with successful completion of certification examination; graduate of a US Armed Forces medical services program or practicing medical assistant who completed supervision requirements prior to February 2, 2000.
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Excellent customer skills and a commitment to providing empathetic, quality care to customers.
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and comfortable with data entry into the electronic health record system EPIC.
  • BCLS certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ year experience in the outpatient setting.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
  • Front office / Phlebotomy experience.
