The Medical Assistant Trainee at St. Luke's University Health Network is responsible for learning to assist in the delivery of healthcare management. This entry-level position involves participating in a structured training program designed to equip the trainee with the necessary skills to support clinical teams effectively. The role emphasizes professional development, patient care, and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Engage actively in classroom and didactic education.
- Learn basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and patient safety.
- Perform vital signs, intake and output measurements, EKGs, glucometry, and phlebotomy.
- Collect specimens and update patient medication lists and allergies.
- Document all assigned responsibilities accurately.
- Participate in shadowing and precepting to learn various tasks and responsibilities.
- Maintain quality improvement initiatives and assist in scheduling appointments.
- Capture patient demographic information and conduct pre-visit planning.
- Complete pre-charting of value-based pieces prior to patient appointments.
- Send messages to the Care Team as needed and prep patients for examinations.
- Review clinical pool messages and maintain referral work queues.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- BLS Certification (current or within 60 days of hire).
- 7 years of customer service experience preferred.
