About the position

The Medical Assistant Trainer at The Wellness Plan Medical Centers is responsible for training and mentoring new and current medical assistants and registration clerks. This role involves developing training materials, conducting evaluations, and ensuring that team members meet essential job functions. The trainer will also perform medical assistant duties as needed across various locations, fostering a supportive and educational environment for staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Teach, support, counsel, and coach new medical assistants and registration clerks.
  • Develop, implement, and update the onboarding training manual.
  • Assist in the hiring of new medical assistants and their placement at appropriate sites.
  • Establish cooperative relationships with accredited schools to prepare curriculum for new medical assistants.
  • Complete and update competencies and assessments; assist in drafting clinical annual evaluations and protocols.
  • Maintain the orientation process for new Medical Assistants and Registration Clerks.
  • Facilitate and help new and current team members meet the essential functions of the job.
  • Serve as a role model and provide leadership, demonstrating professionalism.
  • Guide new team members in integrating into TWPMC culture and environment.
  • Monitor time management and productivity of new and current team members; provide feedback to the Practice and Quality Improvement Manager.
  • Perform all duties listed in the Medical Assistant and Registration Clerk job description.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required along with CMA or RMA certification.
  • 2 years of medical assistant, medical office, mentor, or preceptor experience required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience training other medical assistants.

Nice-to-haves

  • The ability to influence others to perform their job effectively.
  • The ability to work as a team member and collaborate with co-workers.
  • Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Current training and familiarity with office safety and infection control standards.
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and practice management systems.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience utilizing MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • The ability to speak Spanish is also desirable.
