About the position

The Medical Assistant Training Program at St. Luke's Health System is a paid apprenticeship designed to equip individuals with the necessary education and skills for a career as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA). This entry-level position does not require prior experience and includes on-the-job training, clinical rotations, classroom instruction, and paid study time over a period of 7-8 months. Upon completion, participants will be eligible to sit for a credentialing exam and must commit to working for at least one year in a full-time CMA role at St. Luke's.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in on-the-job training and clinical rotations.
  • Attend classroom instruction and continuing education sessions.
  • Complete four hours of paid study time weekly.
  • Prepare for and sit for the CMA credentialing exam after program completion.
  • Work as a full-time CMA at St. Luke's for a minimum of one year after program completion.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of six months of healthcare experience, such as Patient Specialist, CNA, phlebotomy, EMT, dental assisting, or pharmacy tech.
  • Direct patient care experience is preferred.
