About the position
The Medical Assistant position at USA Health involves providing essential support in a clinical setting, ensuring that examination rooms are prepared and patients are ready for their appointments. Responsibilities
- Prepares examination rooms for patients.
- Positions and prepares patients for examination by the physician.
- Takes patient histories and checks pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Positions instruments and equipment and hands instruments and materials to the physician as directed.
- Operates EKG or other medical equipment.
- Gives injections, draws blood samples, or renders prescribed treatments as directed.
- Performs routine laboratory tests and procedures.
- Sterilizes and cleans instruments.
- Inventories and orders supplies.
- Serves as receptionist, receives and directs calls, and schedules appointments.
- Collects payments and prepares receipts.
- Maintains medical records and other files.
- Performs secretarial functions such as typing reports and correspondence, transcribing dictation, completing insurance forms, and maintaining financial records.
- Regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Performs related duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant or related healthcare training program preferred.
