About the position

The Medical Assistant (MA) at AdventHealth Centra Care is responsible for providing patient care and support under the supervision of healthcare providers. This role emphasizes whole-person care, ensuring quality and safety while maintaining patient flow and organization. The MA will engage in customer service initiatives and uphold the core values of AdventHealth, contributing to a fulfilling work environment that promotes professional and spiritual growth.

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients and performs a wide variety of patient care activities.
• Adheres to state, federal, and organizational guidelines to ensure quality care and patient safety.
• Maintains organization and facilitates patient flow.
• Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all patients.
• Documents and reports all procedures and assessments in accordance with department policy.
• Utilizes age-specific guidelines to assess patients during clinical check-in and documents pertinent medical information and vital signs.
• Assesses for signs of abuse or neglect.
• Performs and administers treatments, medications, and follow-up assessments as ordered by the provider.
• Responds appropriately in clinical emergencies and triage situations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of related work experience OR Graduate of accredited medical assistant program with completion of externship OR 6 months relevant experience within an AdventHealth facility.
• Must be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following: AAMA, AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA.
• State of Kansas Paramedic License.
• Current, valid CPR certification is required.
