About the position

The Medical Assistant (Virtual) position is designed to assist providers with patient care and perform various medical assistant duties as needed. This role requires in-person attendance in Tustin, as it is not a remote position. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for performing a full intake process for each patient, verifying and logging patient information, providing quality customer service, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards. The position also involves ordering tests and procedures, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring that medical supplies are stocked and equipment is operational.

Responsibilities

  • Performs 'Full' intake process for each patient virtually.
  • Verifies, collects, and logs patient demographics, medical history, allergies, medication usage, and chief complaint into the electronic health record system.
  • Perform quality vital collection and lab draw, handling and storage of specimens in accordance to regulatory trainings.
  • Provide quality customer service to all patients.
  • Reviews patients' chief complaint and prepares a medical chart for medical providers.
  • Orders on-site testing, labs, referrals, authorizations, and procedures per provider's order.
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
  • Follows standards and procedures outlined in the employee manual.
  • Keeps inventory stocked with medical assistant supplies.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns.
  • Minimizes tardiness and absences.
  • Reports to off-site location for work as needed.
  • Be available to work weekends and/or extended hours.
  • Accurately reports expenses such as mileage incurred.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of a certified Medical Assistant training program.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Bilingual: Spanish (Required).
  • Must excel in multitasking within a high-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills, acute attention to detail, confident and professional communication.
  • Front and Back Office experience (Required).
  • Insurance Verification experience (Required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in general EMR/EHR systems is preferred.
