About the position
The Clinic Medical Assistant (MA) position at Mercy Women & Children's Float Pool in Springfield, MO, is a part-time role with working hours from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, on a PRN (as needed) basis. The MA will assist the physician and office staff with various duties including clerical processing, patient preparation, scheduling, lab work, X-ray, and managing medical records. The role requires performing patient care activities in accordance with established nursing practice standards, embodying the Mercy Philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, and respecting human dignity. A caring, friendly, personal, and professional approach is expected in all communications with patients, families, visitors, and employees. Additional related duties may be assigned as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist the physician and office staff with clerical processing
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Schedule patient appointments
- Perform lab and X-ray duties
- Manage medical records
- Carry out patient care activities according to nursing standards
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Must obtain BLS Certification within 90 days of hire
Nice-to-haves
- 6 months of clinical healthcare experience
- Active Medical Assistant Certification/registrations (RMA, CCMA, CMA)
