This position is for a Medical Assistant located in Plummer, ID. Responsibilities

  • Functions as the NextGen Master on the nurse/provider team, ensuring that provider documentation is complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Obtains patients' complaint/reason for visit using HPI template in EHR.
  • Obtains appropriate vital signs, including weights and heights under Nurse Documentation.
  • Recognizes and evaluates changes in patient status and initiates action when appropriate.
  • Obtains appropriate information, specimens, lab results, x-ray results, and health history from patients to prepare them for the clinical provider.
  • Assists clinicians with procedures, such as minor surgical procedures, and prepares the exam room and instruments for these procedures.
  • Performs procedures that are within appropriate scope of practice.
  • Provides and documents patient education including rationale for medication administration, medication side effects, explanation of medications and procedures.
  • Anticipates medical providers' needs.
  • Operates and maintains appropriate medical equipment.
  • Ensures complete, accurate, and timely documentation within the electronic health record.
  • Practices Universal Precautions.
  • Follows established policies for safe administration of medications, treatments, and procedures.
  • Communicates situations of potential legal risk at time of occurrence through appropriate chain of command process.
  • Supports patient rights to confidentiality, privacy, security, complaint resolution, and cultural/religious issues.
  • Demonstrates ability to critique own practice for error and pursues corrective action.
  • Maintains relationships characterized by mutual support, open communication, trust, and respect.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program required.
  • A current or eligibility to acquire MA certificate within 6 months of employment required.
  • One year of experience in a health care setting, phlebotomy, procedure assistance, and injection skills.
  • Current Basic Life Support/CPR certification required and/or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • EMR experience preferred.
  • Typing skills of at least 35 wpm preferred.
