About the position

Advanced ENT & Allergy is seeking experienced Medical Assistants to join their growing team. This role is integral to patient care, involving both clinical and administrative responsibilities in a busy practice that provides a full spectrum of ENT care and head and neck surgery. The position requires a willingness to travel to various locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Organize patient flow and accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms.
  • Verify patient information by interviewing patients and confirming the purpose of their visit.
  • Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, including blood pressure, weight, and temperature.
  • Record details of chief complaints and history of present illness in the EHR.
  • Assist physicians with minor office procedures such as nasal packing removal, application and removal of dressings, and suture removal.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative patient education.
  • Triage patient messages and answer calls, providing pertinent information.
  • Under the direction of physicians, call in prescription refills to pharmacies.
  • Relay instructions to patients and families.
  • Schedule outpatient lab tests, MRIs, CT scans, and manage appointment scheduling.
  • Obtain lab/radiology reports and enter patient demographics in the EHR.
  • Manage and update patient EHR records to ensure information is complete and accurate.
  • Obtain insurance carrier prior authorization for medications and procedures.
  • Complete patient FMLA and other relevant paperwork.
  • Scribe and/or transcribe for physicians.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office.
  • Excellent typing, spelling, and grammar skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Scribe experience is a plus.
