About the position
The Medical Assistant at Apex Dermatology & Skin Surgery Center plays a crucial role in providing both administrative and clinical support to ensure exceptional patient experiences. This full-time position involves maintaining patient records, preparing examination rooms, assisting physicians during exams, and performing various front-desk tasks. Ideal candidates are organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms in order of appointment times.
- Obtain short history and vital signs as required by patient's chief complaint.
- Update patient medication lists.
- Set up exam rooms according to scheduled procedures or anticipate provider's needs.
- Transcribe during visits and ensure documentation meets legal and health regulations.
- Assist physicians with biopsies and surgical procedures.
- Educate patients on treatment plans and medication usage.
- Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms after patient visits.
- Manage patient records and charts accurately.
- Institute emergency care as needed and adhere to practice policies.
- Monitor and complete lab documents and clinical phone calls in conjunction with providers.
- Assist with clerical functions such as prior authorizations and appointment scheduling.
