About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients have a positive and professional experience during their visits to the medical facility. This position involves performing routine clinical and administrative tasks to support the medical staff and maintain the smooth operation of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff
  • Handle all duties in a timely manner
  • Manage supply ordering and inventory
  • Obtain and update complete patient history and chief complaint
  • Greet incoming patients and escort them to exam rooms
  • Check for any outstanding biopsies, bloodwork, etc.
  • Assist providers with medical and cosmetic procedures
  • Provide and reinforce patient education following procedures and office visits
  • Set up for select procedures including biopsies and surgical procedures
  • Perform dressing changes and suture removal after demonstrating competency and approval by provider
  • Take patient measurements utilizing landmarks
  • Complete pathology requisition forms with complete and updated patient information
  • Maintain a daily log of biopsies and cultures performed by each provider
  • Maintain an accurate account of specimens and record on coversheets of lab bags
  • Clean and sterilize instruments
  • Maintain medical supply inventory
  • Clean, organize, and supply patient rooms
  • Dispose of garbage and medical waste material
  • Check rooms at the end of the day to ensure they are stocked for the next day
  • Review and follow posted OSHA instructions/requirements including hazardous waste, needle stick injuries, emergency evacuations, etc.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in healthcare administration or related fields required
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred (will need to provide documentation)
  • Ability to work well with providers to anticipate and support their needs
  • Familiarity with medical billing procedures
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Dermatology experience is preferred, but not required for the position
  • Training for medical and surgical procedures will be provided upon hiring
