About the position

The Medical Assistant role at Azul Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Spa involves supporting healthcare providers in a clinical setting, specifically in the aesthetics field. Responsibilities

  • Escort patients from the waiting room to the exam/procedure room in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Confirm patient identity, obtain vital signs, and verify and update medical history.
  • Assist Physician with various procedures and examinations.
  • Maintain exam procedure rooms and inventory in an orderly fashion according to Clinical Manager's instructions.
  • Routine stocking of supplies according to par levels, proper dating and initialing of all opened supplies mandatory.
  • Clean, sterilize, and stock all instruments according to accepted office guidelines and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform visual field tests for patients seeking insurance coverage for eyelid procedures.
  • Verify and document all prescriptions as directed by Physician.
  • Provide test results and follow-up instructions to patients as directed by Physician.
  • Act as a medical scribe in the electronic medical records systems to accurately record detailed medical history, vital signs, review of systems, chief complaints, exams, diagnoses and plans, along with prescriptions, pathologies, procedures, and provider orders.
  • Collaborate with team to complete prior authorization paperwork, lab and pathology result entry, and return all phone calls with proper documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Engage in active participation of documenting all required components of meaningful use.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Cross-train to competently work in all aspects of the clinic.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Surgical Scrub Tech, or LPN.
  • Prior surgery and medical office experience in Plastics, Dermatology, or Cosmetics.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and carry out orders quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member within the organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as a Surgical Scrub Tech or Medical Assistant.
  • Experience in aesthetics or cosmetic surgery.
