About the position

The Medical Assistant position involves performing both clinical and administrative duties to support healthcare providers in a medical setting. The role is essential for ensuring smooth operations within the office, including patient preparation, vital sign monitoring, and assisting with examinations. The Medical Assistant will also handle patient registration, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification, all while maintaining a professional relationship with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical and administrative medical assistant duties as directed.
  • Prepare patients and rooms for physician examination and procedures.
  • Obtain patient vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
  • Perform EKG, laboratory work, biometrics, etc.
  • Aid physicians in examinations and physicals.
  • Register patients for hospital and physician clinic services.
  • Schedule patient examination, procedure, and surgery appointments for hospitals and physician clinics.
  • Verify patient insurance benefit coverage via phone and online insurance payer portals.
  • Update patient charts, records, and accounts with clinical and billing data.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional relationships with medical office staff, manager, and providers.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint) and medical software.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Recent medical assistant experience preferred.
