About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is a full-time role focused on providing high-quality patient care in a community health setting. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for various clinical tasks, including patient interviews, recording medical histories, and assisting clinicians during patient visits. This role requires bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, as well as the ability to perform specific medical procedures and tests.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and record medical history.
• Confirm purpose of visit and assist the clinician with patient care.
• Prepare patients for visits by taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature.
• Perform electrocardiography (EKG).
• Conduct ear irrigations, throat cultures, urinalysis, flu testing, glucose testing, and INR testing.
• Ensure that results of all tests and procedures are available in medical records.
• Determine equipment needs for visits and set up exam rooms accordingly.
• Assist clinicians with treatments and dressings.
• Translate for providers as needed if certified.

Requirements

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required, fluent in both spoken and written English.
• Completion of medical interpreter course strongly recommended.
• Certified in CPR.
• Graduate of a medical assistant program.
