About the position

The Medical Assistant at McKinley Medical Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers by assisting with patient care, managing clerical tasks, and maintaining a positive clinic environment. This full-time position involves direct patient interaction, appointment scheduling, and ensuring the clinic operates smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient care tasks including checking schedules and organizing patient flow.
• Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist them as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, and collecting specimens.
• Collect patient history and perform screenings as per provider guidelines.
• Assist providers and nurses with various procedures and charting.
• Relay instructions to patients and families, and answer calls providing pertinent information.
• Manage clerical responsibilities such as sending/receiving patient medical records and obtaining lab/x-ray reports.
• Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
• Maintain environmental responsibilities by cleaning exam/procedure rooms and instruments, and restocking supplies.

Requirements

• Valid Certified Medical Assistant certification is required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of experience with EMR systems is preferred.
• 1 year of experience with vital signs is preferred.
• BLS Certification is preferred.
