About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Banner Health involves providing essential support to clinicians and nursing staff in delivering medical care. This role focuses on enhancing the patient experience by preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, assisting with minor procedures, and managing patient care coordination. The position is PRN, meaning there is no set schedule or guaranteed hours, with shifts available from Monday to Thursday, 7 AM to 5:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams and treatments by taking and recording vital signs and symptoms.
• Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including taking blood pressure and performing EKGs.
• Coordinate and manage patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, and scheduling.
• Provide clerical support with patient notifications and documentation, ensuring accurate medical records.
• Maintain a clean and functional environment, including disinfecting equipment and exam rooms.
• Order and stock supplies as directed, including managing medications and equipment recalls.
• Develop and maintain effective communication with all customers, exemplifying service orientation.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
• Active Medical Assistant Certification is required.
• BLS certification required.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with medical software.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
