About the position

The Medical Assistant at Francis X Walsh MD PC plays a crucial role in supporting addiction treatment services by ensuring that clients receive timely and effective care. This position involves working closely with the intake team and leadership to maintain a therapeutic environment for residents, contributing to their long-term recovery and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Works as part of the intake team to ensure clients are seen promptly.
• Obtain lab work and urine drug screens.
• Observe same sex urine samples, test onsite and package for laboratory.
• Giving and interpreting Mantoux Testing.
• Makes appointments for clients to see physician, provide lab work and referrals for additional follow up care.
• Maintain and keep updated all medical records and documentation pertaining to the clients.
• Purchasing and ordering of medical supplies.
• Educates clients about methadone maintenance and detoxification as well as side effects and provides education to clients on lab results and all medical matters.
• Assists in education with pregnant patients about prenatal care and assists primary counselor in coordinating outside services as needed.
• Assists Office Manager with front desk duties.

Requirements

• Medical Assistant Certification or Diploma (preferred)
• 1 year experience with EMR systems (Preferred)
• 1 year experience with Vital signs (Preferred)
• BLS Certification (Required)

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in addiction treatment services
• Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment
