About the position

Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant for their Primary Care facility in New Albany, Indiana. This is a full-time position on the first shift, and eligible candidates may receive a $2000 sign-on bonus, which is reserved for new hires meeting eligibility criteria. The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in managing the coordination and flow of patients throughout their visit, ensuring an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout the patients visit to create an exceptional patient experience.
  • Proactively checks the provider's schedule and reviews information within the patient record to ensure that all required information is available prior to their visit.
  • Proactively obtains any missing information from the patient to ensure that medical records are accurate and up to date.
  • Captures patient's vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information upon arrival.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.
  • Responds to patient call backs and phone in prescription refill requests.
  • Administers medication and injections, as directed by Physician/Provider.
  • Performs phlebotomy on patients, as directed by the Physician/Provider.
  • Performs EKG's, PFT's spirometry, nebulizer treatments and ear irrigations, and other procedures as required by the practice and directed by the Physician/Provider.
  • Performs in-office lab testing such as glucose testing, strep screens, pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and HgA1c as directed by the physician/provider.
  • Performs sterilization on instruments used for minor procedures/surgeries according to the CDC recommended guidelines.
  • Maintains all certifications/licensures as required by the scope of the role being performed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency.
  • Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.
  • Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate to be received within 90 days.
  • Prior working experience in a medical office/clinic performing clinical MA duties, or a Certified MA from the National Health Career Association (NHA), or completed any MA education program but has not received certification as of yet.
