At Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital, we are committed to saving lives, building careers, and reimagining healthcare. We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our team at Westford Family Medicine. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM. The Medical Assistant will have both clinical and clerical responsibilities, performing various functions to ensure uninterrupted patient care in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a high level of organization, multi-tasking abilities, and superior clinical and customer service skills. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for working up patients in a timely manner, which includes obtaining vital signs, conducting urinalysis and blood glucose tests, and managing allergy and medication lists. Accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is essential. Additionally, the Medical Assistant will engage in pre-visit planning, collect and prepare specimens for transportation to off-site laboratories, and ensure accuracy in labeling and documentation. The role also involves assisting with procedures that have been taught through formal training and providing backup coverage for the front office as needed. Quality measure tracking is another critical responsibility, which includes preparing and replenishing medical supplies while maintaining an inventory in a cost-effective and safe manner. The Medical Assistant will assist physicians and nurse practitioners during patient examinations and provide instructions and education to patients as directed by providers. Maintaining cleanliness and sterilization of instruments and diagnostic equipment is also part of the job, along with anticipating necessary labs, reports, and consults that the provider may need.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs, urinalysis, and blood glucose levels from patients.
  • Document all patient information accurately in the EMR.
  • Collect and prepare specimens for off-site laboratory transportation, ensuring accuracy in labeling.
  • Assist with and set up for procedures as trained.
  • Provide backup coverage for the front office as needed.
  • Prepare and replenish medical supplies, maintaining an inventory.
  • Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during patient examinations.
  • Provide patient instructions and education as directed by providers.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and maintain diagnostic equipment.
  • Anticipate necessary labs, reports, and consults for providers.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience.
