About the position

We are seeking a professional Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care clinic in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care in a clinic environment, working closely with the Provider to ensure efficient patient flow and support clinical operations.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with clinical and non-clinical duties.
• Perform tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, documenting medical histories, answering phones, stocking supplies, sanitizing clinical areas, checking patients in/out, collecting payments, scheduling and billing.
• Assist healthcare Providers with patient examinations and procedures.
• Administer medications as ordered by the Provider and ensure proper medication administration protocols are followed.
• Maintain accurate patient records and manage medical terminology effectively.
• Coordinate patient care activities, including appointment confirmations and insurance verification.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and infection control procedures within the clinic.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care and treatment.

Requirements

• Certification or diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• BLS certification (will pay for training).
• Understands and adheres to HIPAA/Infection Control guidelines.
• Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to General/Family Medicine.
• Understanding of patient care practices and medication/vaccine administration protocols.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
• Ability to multitask effectively in a clinic setting while maintaining attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn new systems and adapt to changing healthcare environments.
