About the position

The Medical Assistant at AllerVie Health plays a vital role in supporting care teams by obtaining comprehensive medical histories, reconciling medications, and documenting patient information in electronic medical records. This position is essential for assisting with allergy testing, diagnosis, treatment, and immunotherapy, all while ensuring a high standard of patient care in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist care teams in obtaining comprehensive medical histories of patients.
  • Reconcile medications and document information in electronic medical records.
  • Demonstrate appropriate techniques for obtaining vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
  • Obtain spirometry and Niox testing on patients, providing appropriate coaching.
  • Maintain knowledge of general allergy practices, procedures, and medications.
  • Keep exam rooms well stocked and clean.
  • Communicate effectively with the Department Lead and management team regarding clinical, supply, HR, facilities, or billing matters.
  • Display professionalism in patient interactions, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide anticipatory guidance to patients upon triage.
  • Document activities accurately in the EMR system.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working with patients in a medical setting preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Knowledge of EMR systems.
