About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Access Healthcare Physicians, LLC involves providing compassionate and efficient patient care in a primary care setting. The role includes preparing patients for visits, assisting healthcare providers, and ensuring a clean and organized environment. The Medical Assistant will perform various clinical tasks, maintain patient records, and support the healthcare team in delivering high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for each visit by performing preliminary vitals and interviewing patients.
  • Assist providers with setups for minor procedures.
  • Prepare charts prior to each visit to ensure all consults, labs, and records are available.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain history, Chief Complaint, and vitals.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician.
  • Collect, log, and prepare all lab specimens efficiently.
  • Communicate physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Assist physicians during exams and treatment.
  • Perform EKGs, Spirometry testing, Ear lavages, Holter Monitors, and use O2 equipment.
  • Verify drug refill requests and communicate with pharmacies.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments in compliance with OSHA and Health Dept. standards.
  • Change wound dressings.
  • Review inventory monthly and order supplies as needed.
  • Contact medical facilities to schedule testing or admissions as directed by physicians.
  • Ensure that patients' needs are met and demonstrate strong customer service skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-4 years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • MA or CNA certification or higher (EMT, RN, LPN).
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Physical ability to lift/move 50lbs or more and stand for extended periods of time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Preferred)
  • Experience in patient care (1 year preferred)
  • Experience in medical terminology (1 year required)
  • Experience in phone etiquette (1 year preferred)
  • Experience in laboratory procedures (1 year preferred)
  • Experience in clinical laboratory (1 year preferred)
