About the position

As a Medical Assistant at Optum, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care in a clinical setting, particularly in pediatrics. This position involves direct interaction with patients and their families, assisting healthcare providers, and ensuring efficient coordination of care. You will be part of a team dedicated to improving health outcomes and providing a supportive environment for both patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care through face-to-face, telephone, and electronic contact for examination, treatment, monitoring, and preparation for diagnostic tests or procedures.
• Collect and document patient information, including vital signs, chief complaint, review of medications, allergies, health risk screen information, and other services.
• Assist physicians and nursing personnel with injections (VFC), EKGs, and other patient care procedures as directed.
• Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians, company standards, and policies.
• Assist with tasks, phone calls, and messages; document all actions taken.
• Proper, concise, and complete EMR documentation and paper-based documentation for all assessments and procedures.
• Prepare and clean patient rooms and set up instruments and equipment according to protocol while maintaining infection control.

Requirements

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
