About the position

Orange's Doctors Medical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The Medical Assistant will play a critical role in supporting our providers and delivering high-quality care to our patients. This position involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities, requiring attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a dedication to enhancing the patient experience. The role is essential for ensuring efficient clinic operations and providing a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are clean, organized, and well-stocked.
  • Assist providers with patient exams, diagnostic testing, and procedures.
  • Collect and record vital signs, patient medical history, and current symptoms accurately.
  • Administer injections, perform basic wound care, and conduct EKGs as required.
  • Prepare and process laboratory specimens as needed, ensuring proper documentation and handling.
  • Follow infection control protocols and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Greet patients warmly, verify personal and insurance information, and update records.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients about their treatment plan and any follow-up care.
  • Educate patients on wellness practices and help answer general questions within the scope of practice.
  • Address patient concerns courteously and promptly, escalating to healthcare providers as necessary.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow to minimize wait times and maximize clinic efficiency.
  • Handle patient calls, emails, and other inquiries, ensuring responses align with practice policies.
  • Maintain accurate and organized medical records and ensure information is readily accessible to providers.
  • Assist with billing, coding, and insurance processing as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified Medical Assistant program is preferred.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or similar) is highly desirable.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and patient needs.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR software (training provided on specific EHR system used).
