About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Plymouth Pediatric Associates is a full-time role focused on delivering high-quality patient care in a pediatric setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various clinical tasks, including patient preparation, data collection, and assisting healthcare providers during examinations and treatments. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment while maintaining professionalism and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data on basic health status and related health data.
  • Perform and document assigned procedures, including vital signs, throat cultures, injections, dressing changes, urine dipstick, and vision/hearing screenings.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and providers.
  • Prepare patients for exams and treatments, assisting providers in medical procedures and treatments.
  • Provide patient instruction per physician, nurse practitioner, or other healthcare provider.
  • Set up and restock exam rooms, maintaining order and cleanliness.
  • Communicate restocking needs to the front desk supervisor.
  • Maintain equipment in proper working order, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments.
  • Maintain competencies in conducting in-house labs, quality control, vaccine management, and administration.
  • Monitor waiting room for cleanliness and patient needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certified or registered graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or current Massachusetts LPN license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • One year of experience in a pediatric practice setting is preferred.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
  • Experience with computers, web-based programs, and EMR.
