About the position

The Medical Assistant at Northeast Tarrant Internal Medicine Associates, part of Catalyst Physician Group, plays a crucial role in supporting physicians and clinical staff by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. This position involves guiding patients through their visits, preparing them for examinations, and assisting with various medical procedures, all while ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Guide patients from the waiting room to the exam room and prepare them for their visit with the physician.
  • Reconcile medications and submit physician-authorized prescriptions and refills.
  • Collect patient information as delegated by the physician to assist in diagnosis.
  • Prepare exam rooms with necessary equipment and supplies according to visit type and safety protocols.
  • Manage patient rooming to meet daily appointment schedules efficiently.
  • Review patient history, visit notes, and orders, updating the EMR as necessary.
  • Confirm completeness of EMR templates prior to patient visits.
  • Escort patients to the exam room to maintain smooth patient flow with the physician.
  • Assist the physician with exams and conduct pre and post-vital tests as required.
  • Sanitize medical supplies and dispose of used materials properly.
  • Manage faxes and phone calls, and audit clinical supply levels for ordering and replacement.
  • Manage physician-authorized medication refills and follow clinical safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Active and current Medical Assistant certification.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Empathy towards patients' needs and concerns.
  • Highly motivated and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with basic desktop software, medical practice management, and electronic medical record systems.
  • Fluency in English and ability to excel under pressure with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Bloodborne Pathogen & OSHA Safety procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in OSHA compliance.
  • Familiarity with EMR charting.
