About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) role at Actalent involves supporting healthcare providers in a clinical setting by performing various back office duties, assisting with patient care, and ensuring smooth operations within the practice. The position requires a proactive approach to patient interactions and a commitment to maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with back office duties, including rooming patients and documenting vital signs.
  • Set up for procedures and assist providers with various medical tasks such as dressing changes and EKGs.
  • Schedule tests and appointments, manage check-in/check-out processes in the EMR, and perform prior authorizations as needed.
  • Assist providers during office exams and collect pertinent patient information.
  • Conduct phone triage for patient inquiries, medication refills, and test results.
  • Perform walk-in patient duties, including triage and injections, as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for visitors, providers, and staff, ensuring clear communication and support for the organization's mission.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Practice Administrator or other leadership.

Requirements

  • Active CMA (AAMA), RMA, NCMA, or CCMA certification required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized medical assistant training course or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with medication reconciliation and point-of-care testing.
  • Strong patient-first care approach and positive attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience as a CMA.
  • Experience with point-of-care testing and Cerner or other EMR systems.
  • Wound care and suture removal experience.
  • Specialty clinic experience.
