About the position

Clinica La Familia is seeking a Bilingual (English & Spanish) Back Office/Medical Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments, ensuring that all patient interactions are handled with care and professionalism. You will be responsible for adhering to confidentiality policies and HIPAA guidelines, which are critical in maintaining patient trust and safety. Your duties will include collecting specimens and performing basic laboratory tests such as urinalysis and pregnancy tests, as well as administering medications as directed by a physician. You will also be tasked with restocking exam and procedure rooms as needed, maintaining an organized and clean work area in compliance with state health laws and the guidelines of our medical organization. This includes fulfilling environmental responsibilities such as setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol and cleaning exam and procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to uphold infection control standards. In addition to clinical responsibilities, you will collect patient histories, perform screenings per provider guidelines, and assist physicians and nurses with various procedures. You will relay instructions to patients and their families, answer calls, and provide pertinent information as needed. Clerical responsibilities may also be assigned, which could include obtaining lab and x-ray reports, as well as hospital notes. This position requires a compassionate approach to patient care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent customer service skills throughout your interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.

Requirements

  • Valid Certified Medical Assistant certification (preferred).
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • BLS Certification (preferred).
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
