About the position

The Medical Assistant at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers in delivering comprehensive medical care to patients. This position emphasizes high-quality customer service and effective communication, ensuring that patients receive timely and accurate medical documentation and care. The Medical Assistant is responsible for various tasks, including patient intake, documentation, and assisting with medical procedures, all while adhering to established protocols and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist the provider in the delivery of medical care to clinic patients.
• Maintain high customer service skills with all patient interactions.
• Complete medical documentation accurately and thoroughly upon patient intake.
• Administer immunizations as required.
• Utilize computer software for patient documentation and provide necessary documentation to patients.
• Adhere to policies and procedures for patient medications and testing, including refilling medications as appropriate.
• Communicate electronically with patients when desired.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Medical Assistant Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Customer Service / Patient Focus experience.
• BLS obtained through the American Heart Association.
