About the position

Unified Health is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to join our multi-specialty medical practice in Oxnard, CA. The ideal candidate will have a friendly demeanor and excellent communication skills to ensure patient satisfaction. This role involves a variety of tasks aimed at supporting patient care and maintaining a clean and organized medical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all units are prepped, stocked, and cleaned before the beginning of each appointment.
  • Oversee cleanliness of operatory.
  • Help in other areas of the office when necessary, such as answering phones, storing and organizing supplies, and updating patients' charts.
  • Seat patients and have proper setup for procedures.
  • Anticipate and assist providers' needs at all times.
  • Give patient instruction and demonstrate when necessary.
  • Update patient's health history and patient information semiannually.
  • Open/close exam rooms and unlock/lock sample closet/cabinets.
  • Ensure that all counter tops are clean in the exam rooms.
  • Ensure brochures/consent forms are fully stocked in each exam room.
  • Turn on Light Box/Calibrate and turn off at the end of the day.
  • Turn on Excimer Laser and turn off at the end of the day.
  • Insert Laser Keys and remove keys at the end of the day.
  • Fill Liquid Nitrogen and ensure it is ordered.
  • Disinfect rooms before and after each patient.
  • Sterilize instruments and hand pieces.
  • Fill exam room canisters with supplies.
  • Check bio-hazard containers.
  • Clean mirrors and fill gel bottles.
  • Complete notes and send prescriptions to pharmacies.
  • Complete all authorization requests and process all biopsy specimens.
  • Check distilled water in Autoclave and clean the inside monthly.
  • Follow up on all existing requisition orders for pathology.
  • Ensure that all notes are current or up to date.
  • Change cold sterile when necessary and assist in weekly inventory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year medical office experience
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish is a plus)
  • Dermatology experience
  • Experience using multi-line phone system
  • Previous Office Ally experience is a plus
